I just picked this up in a record shop and it appears to be the version with the plain silver cover and just the words 'Metal Massacre', as you had mentioned. The track listing seems to be a hybrid of the original 1982 pressing and the one in 1984. The first track is Black and Blue – "Chains Around Heaven" (no Steeler track, like the 1984 pressing), but the Ratt track is included as it was on the original pressing. Not sure which version of Hit The Lights is on here, I've only listened to Side One thus far. Just let me know if you want some pics or further info. It still sells in the $80-100 range occasionally, but just last week one sold on eBay for $10! I bought mine for about $30 a couple years ago. With a little patience and effort, I figure you can reasonably expect to get it in the $40-60 range, even lower if you're lucky.

The box set is $100+ depending greatly on how complete it is (book, iron-on, etc.) The Steamhammer set only includes Volumes 3-6.Keirhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13382356416935293139noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2701181521980007542.post-24275202004924777062008-02-12T11:50:00.000-08:002008-02-12T11:50:00.000-08:00Cheers from the Corroseum! Nice start to your blog...Cheers from the Corroseum! Nice start to your blog; the different versions of MM 1 are confusing. Is it really going for $40-60 currently? I remember it used to sell for more like $80-100 (for the original press) but those numbers are from several years ago and may be out of date. Also, any idea of what the box set sells for? I've only seen one of those. There was a second box set issued (in Germany through SPV or Steamhammer I think) that had several of the Metal Massacre volumes pressed on colored vinyl instead of picture discs. I don't remember which volumes are in that set. TMK it's the only time Metal Blade made any colored vinyls except for the first Trouble album, some of which were pressed on white vinyl (to go along with their 'white metal' Christian POV).

anyways, good luck with the blog, I look forward to more cool compilation reviews!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
